Masks Required on Public Transportation by Federal Law

Effective, Tuesday, February 2, 2021, a federal mask mandate for all public transportation vehicles and hub will go into place.

In response to President Biden’s Executive Order, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an order requiring masks on public transportation and at public transportation hubs.

Exceptions to wearing a mask under the CDC requirements include:

  • A child under the age of 2 years”
  • A person with a disability who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act”
  • A person for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to workplace health, safety, or job duty as determined by the relevant workplace safety guidelines or federal regulations”

Bus operators may have spare masks on hand to disperse to customers who need them.
