Travel Training
The Rapid offers the following programs at no cost, designed to help those who may require further assistance before riding our buses.
One-On-One Travel Training
If you’re a senior or have a disability, The Rapid offers short-term, individualized instruction on how to travel safely and independently aboard fixed-route buses. A travel trainer will plan your route, ride with you during training, and stay in contact with you to monitor your progress. Interpreters are provided for individuals with hearing impairments who use ASL or speak another language.
Group Travel Training: Bus 101
At the location of your choice, learn the benefits and advantages of The Rapid services via a presentation tailored to your group’s needs. Upon request, training can include a bus ride for groups under 25 to Rapid Central Station.
Vehicle Familiarization
Designed for individuals who use a mobility device, this program will provide practical experience in boarding a fixed-route bus while not in service from the comfort and safety of Central Station; all of our fixed-route service buses are lift equipped and handicap accessible. Compare The Rapid price of 85 cents for seniors and persons with disabilities to door-to-door senior transportation at $7.00 or more each way.
Wave card Training
The Rapid offers information about using a Wave card and how to qualify for a reduced or student rate.
