Masks Required: Federal Mandate Extended (April 18, 2022)
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires masks while riding on public transportation – regardless of vaccination status. As such, all customers* are required to wear masks/coverings while on The Rapid’s buses or platform or while in other buildings or facilities owned and operated by The Rapid.
TSA's statement regarding face mask use on public transportation:
“At CDC’s recommendation, TSA will extend the security directive for mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs for one month, through April 18th (2022). During that time, CDC will work with government agencies to help inform a revised policy framework for when, and under what circumstances, masks should be required in the public transportation corridor. This revised framework will be based on the COVID-19 community levels, risk of new variants, national data, and the latest science. We will communicate any updates publicly if and/or when they change.” (TSA Statement - March 10, 2022)
Thank you for your continued patience and for keeping your fellow riders and Rapid staff safe
*Per federal mandate, masks/face covers are not required for children under the age of two, or for those who are unable to medically tolerate the use of one.
